Home Learning
At Prendergast Primary, we take a whole-school approach to home learning. We start in Early Years and continue all the way through Year 6.

Home Learning in Early Years
In EYFS, parents are encouraged to:
- Read together every night – share a book with your child.
- Practice letters and sounds using the support packs provided by teachers.
- Listen to your child read using our Little Wandle scheme via Collins Hub or the book swap system.
- Complete home learning projects linked to curriculum topics later in the year.
- Explore Maths Seeds after attending a parent workshop and receiving login details.

Year 1
Home learning expectations are the same as EYFS, with one change:
- Home learning projects are now completed half-termly, starting in September.

Year 2
Children continue with the same reading and home learning projects. New additions include:
- Mathletics for maths practice.
- Times Tables Rockstars introduced in the Spring and Summer terms.

Years 3–6
Home learning builds on Year 2 expectations, with extra online learning opportunities:
- Spelling Shed for spellings.
- Learning by Questions for Maths and English.
- Other online programs may also be used to support learning.
We believe that regular home learning helps children build skills, confidence, and a love of learning.
